Love it/Hate it: Reception Dress

Recently we have seen a growing number of brides in search of not just one perfect dress for their wedding day, but two! It has become common to have a formal dress worn for the ceremony and cocktail hour, and then out comes a shorter, lighter dress for the reception.

The number one reason that brides purchase a second reception dress is for comfort. Wedding dresses can be heavy and hot! Also, the reception is a time for the bride and groom to have fun with family and friends, and dancing in a heavy bridal gown is not as easy as it looks! A shorter dress allows for easy movement and is more comfortable for the bride.

Some brides, however, say that they would never wear a second dress on their wedding day. One reason is the price. We have heard brides say they may have considered a second dress, but after spending so much on their gown, they felt  bad about spending money on another. The second reason is brides have said  they have found their dream wedding dress, and have NO intention of taking it off until absolutely necessary!

So you tell us Indy bride… do LOVE the idea of having a second dress for the reception? Or do you HATE it?
