New Years Resolutions for HIM

Ok grooms-to-be, this post is looking at YOU. Even though, let’s be honest, your lady is going to call majority of the wedding planning shots, we still think it’s important that you’re involved in someway. So whether you want to be involved in some serious decision making or simply as her support system, make a New Years Resolution to be the best groom you can be.

Here’s a few ways to vow to be the groom of her dreams.

Your bride probably picked the color you’ll be wearing on your wedding day. She may have even decided the exact tux she wants you to wear. But over here at IGH, we think the groom’s attire is an area you can speak up about. So make a resolution to listen to what she wants, take her color selections to heart, but also voice what you’d like. Pick out a suit you feel great in and that she loves, a tie you think is pretty sharp, and a color you can live with 20 years down the road.

There’s no better way for a bride to wake on her wedding day than with a thoughtful gift from her soon-to-be husband waiting for her. Make a resolution to start thinking about that gift TODAY. Give her something thoughtful, something she’ll love, and something that you’ll want to give her and not just feel like you have to give her.

We know that wedding planning probably isn’t many groom’s activity of choice, but we still think it’s important that you participate in some of the planning meetings and consultations. Make a resolution to go to at least a few more appointments this year. Your bride-to-be will feel like you’re interested, supportive, and excited, and who knows, you might even enjoy it.

One of the hardest things when planning a wedding is keeping everyone informed. From important shower dates to rehearsal dinner requests to the day-of photography schedule, there’s a lot of info and some details can get lost in translation. So make a resolution to help your bride out by being the liaison between her and your family. This will give her one last thing to worry about and one more reason for your mom to tell you how much she loves you.

The best thing you can do for your bride-to-be during the planning process is to make her feel special. So make a resolution to spoil her rotten during the planning process. You don’t have to drop a ton of cash or buy her a ton of fancy things, but you really should spoil her with thoughtful notes, flowers at her bachelorette party, facebook shout-outs, dinner for no reason, and lots of back rubs. She’ll love it.
